ABOUT ME

Mona Barajas is a journalist and an educator who has dedicated her career to helping businesses and organizations advance within the digital marketing era through storytelling. She is a proud Arizona State University alum.

 

Barajas' background includes working with the American Petroleum Institute (API), the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, and with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, Texas.

 

Barajas is an aerospace enthusiast and throughout her time at NASA she managed multiple official NASA social media accounts and increased engagement and increased audience growth. Barajas produced social media campaigns, wrote scripts, web features, blogs, and graphic designs, produced video proposals and so much more. She led a high school and college program to increase visibility of NASA's high school and college student programs. Her work included producing social media campaign videos such as the NASA Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day video that includes NASA’s Flight Director Diana Trujillo and a video campaign in honor of Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month in which we included NASA Astronaut Jonny Kim and NASA’s Office STEM Engagement stakeholders. Driven by her profound interest in education, Barajas is committed to leveraging her communication expertise to advance the mission of building stronger communities across the state of Arizona.

Above all, Barajas is a person of faith and throughout her free time she enjoys volunteering at her local church as a Sunday School teacher, spending time with her family and hiking Arizona's beautiful deserts.
